e-Liquid Tanning Test
This is information from our tanning test that we ran over several weeks to show how e-liquid changes color. The results are self evident. These are the articles from our Newsletter on 8/5/11, 8/12/11, and 8/19/11 showing the results.

We did some testing this week on the effects of environment on e-liquids. On Tuesday morning we made 5 sets of juices. Each set contained 2 DeKang 10ml e-liquids at 0mg and 24mg. We then put these sets in different places and photographed the effects that the different environments had on the tanning of the liquids. The 5 environments were in a car, on a window sill, in my pocket, at room temperature in my office and in the refrigerator. The image to the right was taken when the liquids were mixed. The 3 below are on the 3 subsequent days. |

As you can see the 2 biggest factors are temperature and sunlight. The last but most constant is time. I say most constant because time even in the best environment will still see a change in the color of the e-liquid. We are going to prove this by continuing this experiment for the next couple of weeks so that you can see the results. It is safe to say that an e-liquid in a cool dark environment will not completely stop tanning but will dramatically reduce the process.
We performed these tests to give you an idea of why you can receive an e-liquid from one order and it is different from the color of an identical e-liquid from a different order. Depending on the temperature the liquid endured in shipping to you, the time it took to be delivered, even the age of the batch of nicotine used (because even a couple days can make a difference), the tanning process can make the e-liquid darker. This does not mean that the quality is affected, just that it is tanned. In fact many people like their e-liquids to steep or age because they feel the flavors are better after they have sat for a few days or even a week. E-liquids are good for up to 2 years at room temperature as long as they are not left open. We hope this answers some of your questions and we will be continuing this experiment as well as providing a few others in the near future. |

E-Liquid Tanning Test (Continued) |

In a continuation of our test from last week's newsletter, we left the liquids in their particular environments and there was no dramatic change in the results. The biggest factors that caused the most tanning after week 1 was temperature and sunlight and this did not change. All of the juices over the past week tanned a little more. There was not a dramatic change, just a continued gradual darkening of all of the e-liquids containing nicotine. In the room temperature, pocket and refrigerated samples, the change in color of the e-liquid from when the liquid was first mixed has been the least. We will continue to monitor this. |

The liquids continued to tan a bit. The liquids are darker than the flash on my camera lets me show but you can still compare the different samples. I took the labels off the liquids so you could see the color better. The 0mg samples are on the left and the 24mg samples are on the right. The liquids with nic are darkest to lightest in this order: Window, Car, Pocket, Room Temperature and Refrigerator. |
