ARO Pyrex Bottom Coil Tank

The ARO is a bottom coil clearomizer tank system made by Smok Tech.  It is similar to the Kanger M3. Bottom coil clearomizers provide a nice warm vapor, with a superb clean flavor, and reduced wicking issues. The ARO Pyrex has a glass tank, replaceable atomizer head and holds about 3.5ml of e-liquid. The ARO has an eGo connector, but unlike most eGo clearomizers or cartomizers, the ARO uses the outer threads of the eGo battery.  Therefore, if you are using a device with a 510 connector it will be necessary to use a 510 to eGo adapter (sold separately).  The center post of the connector is unsealed.  There is a vent hole in the bottom of the tank which provides the right amount of airflow.  Due to the design of the tank we have yet to have one leak.  The rubber gaskets keep the e-liquid where it is supposed to be, in the tank wicking to the coil.

To fill the ARO: unscrew the bottom atomizer head, hold the tank upside down and fill with about 3.5 ml of eLiquid. With the tank mouthpiece-end down, screw the atomizer head back on. To replace the heating element unscrew the bottom of the clearomizer. The heating element unscrews from the base.

The ARO has great vapor.  It comes with a 2.4 ohm coil installed and produces excellent vapor and a good hit.  This is sure to be a huge hit.

  1. Great Tank for Starting Out - From a Novice Review by Trevor
    Rating

Good tank for starters. I too had problems with gurgling from the get-go, and I believe that is what let to liquid getting on top of the battery.

I've started keeping mine over 1/2 full if I can. And when I rebuild my coils, I throw a few extra strands of flavor wick in, and it works great for me. Mine only gurgles when it gets under 1/3 full.

Great product for the price. I'm sure there are better options, but this is great on a budget. (Posted on 4/10/14)

  2. Not worth the hassle Review by Jonquil
    Rating

First of all: this tank is really not worth the headache. I can't vouch for the v2 as I haven't received mine yet, but this tank was a massive waste of money for me.

It leaks. Not a little, but huge pools that fill your battery contact and leak down the sides. I've identified the issue as the contact between the bottom o ring on the head and the tank... it's not a tight fit by default. With some maneuvering you CAN get a tight enough seal to get most if the leaking stopped, but honestly, who wants to bother with that, especially when you're prone to forgetting this step and even then it still leaks a little.

More airy hit than the Evod but not too airy. Handles any ratio of juice I throw at it very well with no leeching, as expected of Pyrex.

Does not fit flush with an Ego battery... awkward design looks kind of out of place.

Well placed air vents makes adjusting flow a breeze. But beware your fingers may end up covering one due to them being on the sides.

Needs to be topped off often as air pressure drops as soon as fluid gets about halfway gone. (Posted on 3/22/14)

  3. Great tank, never a problem! Review by Chris
    Rating

I've tried various top coil tanks (which all leaked and had bad vapor production) and have used the Tumbler bottom coil, but this one was the standard for me. I've been using the same ARO for a little over a month and haven't had any leaking problems even when walking around/sitting down with it in my pocket for long periods of time.

I pair this ARO with 1.8 coils along with the iTaste V V battery (set at 3.6 volts) and the flavor, throat hit and vapor production are spot-on every time. Don't play around with the voltage/wattage too much because you're just burning your coils up - find a sweet spot and stick with it.

I change my coils once every week and a half and vapor is great! (Posted on 3/18/14)

  4. Great Tank, Great Taste Review by Call Me McVapes

So this is my very first day vaping... loaded this tank about halfway with 6mg Cinnamon Pear Top Vapor. The flavor is great! The tank did leak a little on me at first but was easily fixed by tightening the coil and re-fitting the inner seal. Pure flavor, loads of vapor with a 2.5 ohm coil. Great first experience! I am really liking this tank.I am a big fan of the Aro tanks(I like a little airy hit). I don't know why
so many say the have leaking problems mine have never leaked. It is a bit larger than my other
ones but you may like that. Pyrex is a plus since I have read about some juices cracking plastic ones although I have not had that problem either. (Posted on 3/10/14)

  6. My Favorite Review by Keith
    Rating

I've been a vaper and MadVapes customer for over 4 years. I actually prefer these (w/ rebuilt coils in the heads) over my Nautilus and Kayfun Lite+...yes that's right...you heard me correctly. I also own the V2 and the originals. These offer me the best draw, juice capacity, and vapor production out of any tank system I own. For a few dollars do yourself a favor and get a couple, then rebuild with some some kanthal and silica wick. It's really not hard, tons of youtube vids out there. Thanks MadVapes...Now just get the other colors in stock please! (Posted on 3/4/14)

  7. Vapor and flavor are unbeatable, but...They leak. Review by Evan
    Rating

So far for vapor production and flavor these have been the best that I've tried, hands down. Unfortunately they leak like none other when they get below half full, the only thing I've been able to do to stop leaks is keep them topped off, but this is not a viable solution. I bought a big tank to have a long lasting tank between fills, not to have to top it off every 30 min. Jon says to replace the base with the piece from the original ARO Tank, this sounds like it might work. I have 2 of those and they've never leaked, but I like the size and metal finish of the pyrex model. My only other suggestion is to look at the replacement model that just came out for this, the ARO 2 pyrex tank, they supposedly fixed the leaking and gurgling issues, If anyone has tried these, leave a review on that product I'd like to know before I buy anymore product. 8. I solved my leak problem.. Review by Jon
    Rating

I suggest anyone with a leakage problem remove the aluminum coupler from the ARO Pryrex tank (the part that the coil screws into) and replace it with the original coupler that came with the original ARO tanks. It seals better. I swapped it on all 3 of my ARO Pryrex tanks and it fixed the problem completely (for me at least). (Posted on 2/24/14)

  9. LEAKS-LEAKS-LEAKS!! Review by Jon
    Rating

I love the capacity of these tanks, and the durability of them.
But unfortunately I purchased 3 of these and all 3 are now leaking into my battery. After doing extensive surgery on all 3 tanks I believe the aluminum coupler is cut wrong. I don't think the main o-ring is large enough. It is large enough at first, but after a few days or more the liquid starts to bypass the o-ring. I don't think the wick has anything to do with it. If the wick is gonna cause leaking in the large tank, it's gonna leak in the small one as well, because the wick is part of the coil assembly and not the tank.
I think they just need the o-rings to be a bit more robust for the aluminum coupling that the coil screws into.
I can only give 3 stars until this is corrected. (Posted on 2/24/14)

  10. To reviewers with leaking... Review by eric
    Rating

I think the wick size that comes with the coil is a bit on the small size. If you are a tinkerer as I am you can get some 2 mm wick (I used a short piece from an old top coil I had lying around) and just remove the original flavor wick (the one just laying on top of the coil) and replace it with a piece of the 2 mm wick, trim with nail clippers leaving about 2mm overhang on each side. This stopped the leaking for me. For me, this tank makes my flavors much better, I don't know if it's the Pyrex or the much cooler bottom coil, but it is awesome! TY MV! (Posted on 2/21/14)

  11. Leaks in both tanks... Review by Michael
    Rating

Not sure how most of you got so lucky or how I got so unlucky. I purchased 2 based on the positive reviews and both leaked after a couple days. I tried working with the staff to see if I'm doing something wrong but we were not able to resolve the issue. I filled the tank half/full/qtr, checked the o-rings, cleaned the coils multiple times, even purchased new coils and they still both leaked and gurgled. I wasted a ton of juice trying to get this to work in the past month and now it's time to move on. (Posted on 2/21/14)

I love this... i am still having a little leaking though. not sure if im doing something wrong but compared to my other cartomizers this one is amazing. the color is incredable and the taste is smooth. if anyone knows how to get the leaking to stop please let me know. (Posted on 2/14/14)

  13. great tank, great price Review by benjamin
    Rating

These tanks are excellent. I bought one and came back for three more. The atomizers come in different resistances and I've had some leakage issues of late (I think maybe the juice I'm having the issues with isn't working with the 1.5 ohm atomizer).

That said, every tank I've ever owned has leaked to some extent so it can probably be attributed to something I'm doing wrong. I've drooled these things a lot and no breaks, used coffee, chocolate, citrus, mint, and a variety of other flavors without cracks in the tanks. Great trading vapor.

Buy a couple extra atomizers (cheap) and after a couple days use throw them in the silverware caddy in your dishwasher and run it. Works great for cleaning them and helps minimize any leaks (for me, YMMV). (Posted on 2/10/14)

I like this tank a lot, it is now my main tank. If I would have known I would have order two black one, although I am ordering a red one today. Link with eMax 900 mAh great rig, awesome price sub $30. I spent more than that on first battery I bought locally, that was non-adjustable. Can not forget to mention cleaning is simple. I was looking to get my wife a decent upgrade from a disposable type tank. I decided to go with this setup and I am very impressed with the vape. It has great airflow and produces a clean tasting vapor. Another plus is that it is pyrex so it can handle the citrus and cinnamon juices. (Posted on 1/9/14)

Great flavor and vapor production from it. Holds a good amount of juice. My problem is 2 days after I started using it, it started leaking into the battery or flooding the coil. Next coil didn't work at all and the next three have all done the same after just a few days. Idk what the problem is with these devices or if I'm doing something wrong but you'd think by now someone would produce a product that doesn't leak and works like its supposed to. (Posted on 1/1/14)

Damn I love these tanks!! I have had a few and I love the vapor they produce, and how great all my juices taste. I have had a few and I've only had one to break. I don't how it happened because I wasn't using it when it got broke, a friend was. I'm pretty tough on a device, and they hold up very well. I use them on an Innokin itaste MVP 2 and the hot pink looks AWESOME on my black vape. I've tried others in the past like the ProTank, I hate the ProTank. Don't hesitate to buy this little jewel! I now wanna try the new version of these to see what they're like. (Posted on 12/21/13)

  21. Leaks no matter what I try Review by Kelly

I was really hoping I would love this because it holds lots of fluid & I chain vape with top banana or bluberry. I used 2.4 ohm head with my 900mah ego t. I dont have vv yet. My aro constantly leaks &/or gurgles. My main problem is the leaking & not having any good hits. I've tried filling it to the top, I've tried 1/2 way. Nope. No help. I've cleaned the heads with hot water & dried them. I got new ones, 2.4 from madvapes.. I don't know how to dry burn & I don't understand how to change the wicks myself with cotton or any other items like I see you all doing on youtube. I need a video for beginners. Lol. I've only been vaping 2 mos aprox & just ordered a artemas to use with cartos. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm so overwhelmed with all the lingo & everbody seems so advanced. My e mail is hugskelly @ yahoo dot com. I'd love to use this but not sure what I'm doing wrong or if its the tank itself. My kanger evod plastic tank works great but I'm constantly having to fill it due to chain vaping. Thanks Kelly (Posted on 12/20/13)

  22. FLAVORTASTIC Review by Alex
    Rating

I have only started vaping a few months ago and during that time have been using the cheap clearomizers. I started diy'n my ejuice almost immediately and noticed that with the cheap clearomizers I needed to add nearly 30 percent flavors to my 50/50 pg/vg mix in order to get a good strong flavor. When I switched to the ARO Pyrex (mainly because of melted cheap clearomizers) I noticed that my flavors went through the roof and were WAY too intense. I can now mix my ejuices between 10 and 17 percent (depending of flavors) with a much much better flavor profile! This is my favorite bottom coil tank by far. FYI, I Vape with a 3.0 Ohm coil at 4.6V and is ideal for me. (Posted on 12/8/13)

  23. Great tank but was seeping Review by eric
    Rating

I purchased two of these and they both leaked out of the bottom and into my battery. My diagnosis of the problem was too small of a wick. I took the coils apart and they had two very short 1mm wicks which I replaced with two 2mm wicks that I let overhang on each side approximately 2mm. No more leaking, they hold a lot of liquid and produce good vapor! Be sure to tighten the coil into the base before first use as it will most likely be loose when you get it. Thank you MV for the great deal! (Posted on 11/22/13)

This is an all around great tank. I usually use a 6ml tank with a removable drip tip but decided to go with this one because I work at my local paintball field and wanted something not so bulky and didn't want to lose the drip tip out on the field since the drip tip is already built it. Absolutely no leaking. Great product. (Posted on 11/3/13)

Excellent product, been vaping for a few years and this is the best tank I've tried by far! Beware of dropping it though, the widow that allows you to view juice level is not plastic and can crack as mine did. Can't wait until more stainless ones are in stock, will be grabbing a few more! 28. Consistent. Great Tank. Weak Seals Review by Zachary
    Rating

The system is great. Consistent vape, low battery usage. Beats a top wick hands down! That being said. Both of the original coils were leaking through the coils and down in to the battery, within the first week. I hope it's just a temporary issue with faulty seals or coils, because I love the tank. Ordered a bunch of replacement coils, and we'll see. (Posted on 9/11/13)

  29. Absolutely Fantastic Review by Shirley's brother Dennis
    Rating

I've had mine for a week and 3 days now. In my experience with it so far it is pretty much perfect. It hasn't leaked at all. It is incredibly consistent you get a nice hit vape after vape. I've been using the same coil it came with the whole time and it hasn't lost any performance yet it is still going like the day I pulled it out of the box, and I haven't cleaned it or anything just keep refilling. (with replacements at $1.49 each why bother?) I wonder how long this coil will go? The watermelon juice I'm using is almost as clear as water so might be quite awhile even without any cleaning. I had not nearly as good experience with the plastic CE4/5 clearos they didn't last long at all, got dry hits, and they leaked I think I'll be sticking with the ARO for a long time. 34. My new favorite Review by Andrew
    Rating

So far so good on these although I have not had them that long yet. I was using the cheap clack dual coil cartomizers for a while but got so tired of them flooding and then drying out quickly. This is a very nice unit, a little heavy because the pyrex but it feels good, no leaks so far, only 1 dry hit ever on my VV battery but a dry pull solved it right away. These keep juice for a long time, ive only had to fill it up 1-2x per day which is amazing because i'm used to 5-6 times a day (chain vaper). I hope the atomizers last more then a week, but even if they dont they are under $2 each so I ordered a bunch of them.

The ONLY problem with these on Ego batteries is if you screw them on all the way tight they will push the contact terminal down so that it will not charge until I pry it back out. Easily solved by just making it snug instead of tight, no issues while doing that yet. (Posted on 8/12/13)

  35. Engineering to be admired Review by Kevin
    Rating

With evods, when you screw them closed, the o-rings mash against the walls, and that's your 'seal'. There is a chance the o-rings will mash, twist, not seal ... and leak. That's what happened to mine a lot. The threads on this, using the bigger threads on the outside instead of the small ones in the middle, allows more room to work with in the center for sealing. This doesn't even use a channel with an o-ring, it uses 2 steps with gaskets! It's genius, and will be the future of sealing I believe. Superior quality, superior engineering and performs wonderfully. I'm new to this, and have tried my fair share of CEXs over the weeks, then 'upgraded' to an evod that left me disappointed, and a pocket full of ejuice. I'm ordering more of these, just in case I drop it and break it, or someone steals it because it's so good. Awesome. The metal mouth piece acts as part of the juice storage ... if it keeps the size down, I'm ok not being able to use a custom drip tip. Great stuff. (Posted on 8/11/13)

  36. T3 Form-factor in Pyrex? Hot damn! Review by Slap Maxwell
    Rating

I've been using the Kanger T3 since they first arrived on the scene and still do to this day. Well, maybe not anymore. The ARO is simply a better performing device with a solid build and great flavor. I just finished a tank of some 40/60 pg/vg DIY juice that gave the T3 some problems if I went over 7.5 watts -- the wicks just couldn't deal with the thicker juice. In the ARO it took 8.5 watts in stride without a skanky dry hit the entire tank. Even cranked up to 10 watts I got 3 massive back-to-back toots before getting a dry hit with this thick sauce. Outstanding! With a 70/30 I was at 9 watts easy with the ARO without a burnt taste or dry hit.

It was nice knowin' ya, Kanger.... Bring on them tank-crackers, ya'll! (Posted on 8/9/13)

  37. Really Nice - Best BCC I've owned sofar Review by Puck
    Rating

So far, I've ran two tanks through this and have had a perfect vape with every drag. It is a bit airy but I like that. The vapor is massive and the flavor is the best (as with most BCCs I own). What is really nice about this device is it feels more rugged than plastic tanks units most tanks normally come with. It's all metal except for the pyrex glass which is also encased in metal. The metal tip gives it a very solid feel also. This is my new favorite tank. No dry hits so far even while chain vaping. (Posted on 8/8/13)

My impressions trying this tank for this first time:
    produces loads of vapor,
    slightly airy hit,

Really nice build quality and style,
    Holds plenty of juice.

  39. Upgrade of the already great ARO bottom coil! Review by Luke
    Rating

Knowing that this tank uses the same coils as my ARO Bottom coil tank I knew I would get great vapor production. This tank is slightly bigger and heavier than its less expensive counter-part. I love that it holds more juice to last me through the day, and the added metal tip feels much nicer than the plastic tip of the other ARO tank. So far no leaking issues, and the replaceable coils are super convenient! (Posted on 7/31/13)
