This is what is needed to build the Gold Rush mod. Tools and supplies necessary include needle nose pliers, soldering iron, solder, wire strippers / cutters, hot glue gun, and super glue. Please note that this is what we use but epoxy or other glues may work fine for you. Parts that are needed are an unassembled GoldRush DIY Acrylic Tube (part # 10302), horn style switch (part # 10044 is for the black switch but blue, red and green are available as well), pre-wired 510 battery connector (part # 10352) and a round interconnect circuit board (Part # 10350). |
Start by inserting the prewired connector (A) into the top of the tube mod pulling the positive red wire (B) through the hole for the switch and letting the black wire (C) fall through the bottom opening. Leave the Prewired connector sticking out a little bit as shown. Then using needle nose pliers, pull the copper ground wire (D) in the top of the mod out and unravel it straight. |
Trim the three wires, B, C and D. (Save the wire for later use.) Then strip the red and black wires. |
Solder the black (C) and ground (D) wires together. |
Push the black (C) and ground (D) wires back into the top of the tube and compress them to the side. |
Attach the black and copper wires to the side with the hot glue gun. |
Solder the red wire (B) to one pole of the horn style switch (E). Put a couple drops of super glue or epoxy on the side of the 510 connector and push it in until it is seated completely in the hole. |
Use a piece of the excess red wire that you trimmed earlier (F) and attach it to the other pole of the horn style switch (E). |
Feed the red wire (F) back though the hole for the switch and out the bottom of the cap. |
Apply some hot glue to the bottom of the horn style switch (E). |
Press the horn style switch (E) firmly into place. |
Solder the red wire (F) to the single pin as shown on the round interconnect circuit board (G). |
Glue the horn style switch to the side of the cap on the inside with the hot glue gun. |
Push the circuit board into place and place a bead of solder on the center of the circuit board so that it is raised. This is so the battery will make a good connection to the circuit board. |
